The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has sponsored public service advertisements that educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to all kinds of emergencies.

91% of Americans believe it’s important to be prepared for emergencies. However, only 55% of households report having taken any steps at all to prepare.

Below are links to that assist in informing the public on preparedness for such natural disasters.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security - A Sponsor Organization, DHS is dedicated to protecting the rights of American citizens and enhancing public services, such as natural disaster assistance and citizenship service. The site links to departments website along with contact information and e-mail.

CDC Emergency Preparedness and Response - Intended to increase the nation's ability to prepare for and respond to public health emergencies. Information on how to cope with a disaster, preparation & planning, surveillance and training & education.

Emergency Ready Gear - Planning will help you shelter-in-place or evacuate safely. You'll need the right survival equipment and know how to care for your basic medical needs. Learn more about family, business and pet planning for emergencies.

BSA Emergency Preparedness - Department of Homeland Security partners with Boy Scouts of America to build upon the foundation of the Ready campaign and to increase awareness of citizens across the country prepare for emergencies of all kinds.

Ready America - A national public service advertising campaign designed to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks. The goal of the campaign is to get the public involved and ultimately to increase the level of basic preparedness across the nation.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration - Helps set and implement national safety and health standards for emergency responders.

National Weather Service Hurricane Center - Updates, projections, hurricane wind scales, products for hurricane season, and graphical weather outlooks.
